With these trying financial times we are forced to watch our grocery budget more closely. We need to get a fair price (or below) and some nutritional value from the foods we purchase.
To get more nutritional bang for your buck avoid processed foods. Many say fortified with vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin D as major health benefits. Fortified foods use synthetic vitamin D, or ergocalciferol. Research has shown it to be not nearly as 西瓜卡通 potent as natural vitamin D and it doesn't last as long in the body.
The best source of vitamin D is from the sun. Dr. Sears says "if you're deficient, any for of vitamin D is preferable to the higher risk of cancer, heart disease and other chronic health problems. Still, the natural form, vitamin D, is far superior to the manufactured form."

During the winter months many people will not have an opportunity to experience the sun. It is recommended adults should get 5,000 iu. of vitamin D, while children should have 400 iu.

Dr. Levy demonstrates what a vitamin and mineral fortified cereal really means. In one example he puts a few flakes of cereal in a large bowl of water. He then proceeds to move the individual flakes across the top of the water with a magnet. Talk about iron fortified!
The popular snack Funyuns has made it onto Yahoo's Health list of rip-offs. It the truth be known, almost all chips and puffed snacks should also be included. These types of "food" consist mostly of additives and fillers. They have little or no nutritional value as they have little or no nutrients.
Doctor Morcola says "the same goes for virtually all breakfast cereals. Whether they have cartoons on the box or not. Most cereals are frightfully high in sugar, and 西瓜卡通 any nutrients they boast are in the form of suboptimal synthetic additives, or worse."
Consider when buying organic fruits and vegetables if you are spending your money wisely. Things like banana's, where you discard the skin, are not worth the organic price tag. The Environmental Working Group is a source when deciding to buy organic.
